Cairngorms & Balmoral, Scotland
Saturday 26th April 2025 to Friday 2nd May 2025
The Cairngorms are a mountain range in the eastern Highlands of Scotland closely associated with the mountain Cairn Gorm, the area became part of Scotland's second national park on 1 September 2003. As well as being the largest national park in the United Kingdom it is also home to five of the six highest mountains in Scotland. During this holiday we are hoping to enjoy a ride on the Cairngorm Mountain Railway, subject to ongoing maintenance work, we will anyway drive up to the base station. We will enjoy a full day at Balmoral the Scottish home of Royalty and the journey to and from going across the Cairngorms is full of amazing scenery. For those who enjoy a Wee Dram a visit to Scotland’s highest distillery at Dalwhinnie is a must followed by an Afternoon Tea on board the Strathspey Steam Railway whilst travelling through even more glorious scenery. There will also be visits to Grantown-on-Spey and Aviemore.
On our way to and from Scotland we will be taking an overnight stop at Gretna Hall Hotel in Gretna Green and just because many have asked there will be a visit to the Kelpies, near to Falkirk.
