Pennines, Settle & Carlisle
Monday 9th November 2026 to Friday 13th November 2026
£140 SINGLE SUPPLEMENT
Often described as the ‘Backbone of England’ the Pennine Hills extend
northwards from the Peak District up to the Tyne Gap. We explorethe Forest of Bowland in the Pennine Hills as well as the infamous Settle &
Carlisle Railway. Our excellent master of ceremonies Simon will be
with us for two full days, he is a local tour guide and always tells the history in such an informative way, so enjoy as we explore the Forest of Bowland and the Pennine Hills as well as taking us on an exploration of the Settle & Carlisle northbound in our coach with stories and excellent scenery along with historic towns before we board a normal service train to enjoy the line southbound back to Settle.
With two packed days we have a relaxing afternoon at Samlesbury Hall
dating back to 1325 and originally built under the instruction of Gilbert de Southworth as his family seat. A simple structure with a thatched roof bore little resemblance to the black and white half-timbered stately home you see today. In the morning, we visit Bury and its famous Market.
