By far the largest region in Scotland, the Highlands covers nearly 10,000 square miles in northern Scotland. The region is home to tunning
scenery, including the legendary Loch Ness, it is also the largest geographical whisky producing area with no fewer than 47 distilleries,
great news if you like a dram or two! There is also an impressive timber industry, which provides sawmilling, the production of pulp and paper.

The crystal-clear waters surrounding the Highlands unsurprisingly make the region among the richest in the world for fish. Setting out early on Saturday we make our way north with suitable breaks along the way to our overnight stop at Shap Wells. Sunday morning and
we continue towards the Highlands visiting the charming village of Luss on the banks of Loch Lomond, we then visit Tarbet where we will take a boat cruise. After a stop for lunch, we travel over Glen Coe and arrive in Fort William, our base for the next five nights.

Our daily excursions involve a lot of travelling and sightseeing but what spectacular views along the way, we visit Mallaig going via Glenfinnan Viaduct and Morar where you will see the delightful silver sands. Our return to Fort William will be by ScotRail Train allowing views of this Great Railway Journey. A day in Fort William visiting Spean Bridge and the Commando Memorial, a scenic drive along the southern end of the Caledonian Canal including Neptune’s Staircase, and an optional chance (paid on the day).

to take the Gondola up to Aonach Mor over 3,000 feet up and with fantastic views. We drive to Kyle of Lochalsh and enjoy another train journey on the line to Dingwall before driving the whole length of Loch Ness, stopping of course to see if Nessie is around. The Seafood Capital of Scotland is Oban, and we spend time here before driving across the bridge over the Atlantic.

Departing on Friday morning we head to Callender and then onto Moffat where we have time to explore before heading south to our overnight stop on Shap near to the Lake District. Our last day is Saturday, and we make our way south to be home around teatime with suitable breaks along the way.
